Medicare and Medicaid home health coverage can be confusing for Florida families. Ameri-Care Professional Service, Inc. provides administrative guidance for Miami-Dade intake conversations, but the payer determines eligibility, authorization, benefits, and payment under current rules.
Having a Medicare or Medicaid card does not by itself guarantee that a requested service is covered. The applicable program, plan, product, documentation, order, assessment, authorization, provider participation, and patient circumstances must be reviewed.
Medicare and Medicaid are not the same
Medicare is a federal health insurance program with its own home health requirements. Florida Medicaid includes state programs and managed-care arrangements with different plan rules. Statewide Medicaid Managed Care includes programs such as Managed Medical Assistance and Long-term Care, and available plans and benefits must be confirmed through current official sources and the patient’s plan.
What may be reviewed during intake
- The patient’s general health-related reason for requesting services
- Orders or documentation from a physician or other legally authorized practitioner when required
- Assessment and plan-of-care information
- Service type and requested discipline
- Exact Miami-Dade address and service area
- Plan name, product, authorization requirements, copays, deductibles, and financial responsibility
Ameri-Care staff can explain what information may be needed and what to ask the plan. We cannot guarantee coverage, zero cost, authorization, admission, network participation, a number of visits, or a start date before review.
Questions for your plan
- Is the specific plan and product active for the patient?
- Is home health covered for the requested service?
- Is authorization required?
- What documentation or order is required?
- Are there copays, deductibles, limits, or preferred providers?
- What financial responsibility may remain after verification?
